Wedding Invocation: Courage and Grace…

Let us first consider what the Holy Spirit has to say to us at the beginning of his letter to the Hebrews:

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Our Holy Father and our God, we give You thanks that You have spoken to us in and through Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

And now, O God, we pray that you would speak to us through this mystery concerning Jesus Christ and His Bride-Church. You have shown forth Your covenant faithfulness in, to and through these two families, these churches, and Your completely holy, wise and powerful superintending of lives and events. All these are here clearly displayed, and we magnify Your Holy and Glorious Name.

Incline our hearts, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, that we might mark learn and inwardly digest what You speak to us in this mystery. We give You thanks for the streams of faithfulness You have wrought from these two households that will soon join in a new household. We pray that you will bring forth rivers of faithfulness from this new household and from us, that Christ’s church might be a torrent of faithfulness to Yahweh, the Living God.

And Father we pray, may the descendants of these two, Courage and Grace Anne, possess the gates of Christ’s enemies.

And let the redeemed of Christ join their voices…Amen!
