The needle-eye of the wise and prudent…

One from the Archive…

Livin' in the foothills

At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.”

So, we might ask, does this mean that the ‘wise and prudent’ are not going to heaven? Well…no and yes.

What does Jesus tell us about rich men and the pathway to heaven? In the Synoptic Gospels he says…

…it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Why is that? Well, it’s an issue of mammon…Jesus has something to say about that as well…

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
