Gem-like description…

This, in a book on Charcuterie, seemed a gem-like description of a simple molecule:

Salt, whether dry or in a brine, is a powerful rock that not only keeps our bodies alive, but has helped us to preserve food for millennia, shaping civilization as it graces our kitchen table.
