Congregational Prayer: June 29, 2014…

Our Holy Father and our God, we give You thanks for the many gifts and blessings You have showered upon us. We frequently forget the blessings that are ours as we live in Your creation. The food that we eat, the water that we drink and the air that we breathe are all sustained, moment by moment, by the power and grace of the Triune God. If we but think about it, we know that we ourselves are sustained by that power as well. If You were to turn your attention away from us, from Your creation, all would cease. Yet in Your faithfulness You sustain.

We thank You for the resurrection life that we have been given in Jesus Christ. We were once Your enemies, dead in our trespasses and slaves to sin, and dead to You. By the finished work of Jesus Christ applied to us, You have reconciled us to Yourself, made us friends and even children, made us slaves to righteousness.

As Your children, O Father, we love to hear Your voice, and You have spoken to us. Continue to speak to us through Your Scriptures, O God. By Your Holy Spirit working in our lives, make us students of Your word. Write it upon our minds and hearts, and let it bear fruit in our lives. As we marinate in it, may it show us that You speak to us through Your whole creation. But most of all, may it speak to us of the love of God that we experience in Word made Flesh, Jesus Christ our Lord.
