Exercise extreme care…

Clearly it is necessary to exercise extreme care in evaluating biblical statements about the role of the “law” in the life of the Christian. When the New Testament affirms bluntly “you are not under law but under grace” (Rom. 6:14), clearly it does not mean “you are not under the Pentateuch.” It does not mean “you are not under the Ten Commandments.” Most probably in the context of Romans 6, it means “you are not under the Mosaic covenant as a principle which would make righteousness depend upon the individual’s personal resources as a law-keeper.”
